Fritz Hansen Series 7 Chairs

The Series 7™ designed by Arne Jacobsen is by far the most sold chair in the history of Fritz Hansen and perhaps also in furniture history. The pressure moulded veneer chair is a further development of the classic Ant™ chair. The four-legged stackable chair can be seen as the culmination of the use of the lamination technique. A technique refined to perfection during the Twenties and Thirties by Søren C. Hansen, the grandson of the founder, Fritz Hansen. The visionary Arne Jacobsen exploited the possibilities of lamination to perfection resulting in the iconic shape of the chair. We have 13 in stock. Our price is $220 each.

Herman Miller - Charles Eames Aluminum Group Side Chair

The cushier cousins of the Eames Aluminum Group bear the same distinctive stamp of Charles and Ray Eames. Sophisticated, refined, with a graceful silhouette. Soft Pad chairs are available with new colors, materials, and bases that let them sit well in homes and offices. It's uncanny. A chair designed in 1958 as outdoor seating still manages to look both classic and contemporary in 21st century interiors. The chairs' clean, trim lines make them appropriate for all kinds of places, from classic and contemporary homes to elegant offices to hip startups. Never being ones to favor style over substance, Charles and Ray Eames gave both chair designs an innovative suspension that creates a firm, flexible "sitting pocket" that conforms subtly to the body's shape. They created that suspension by stretching a continuous piece of seat-back upholstery tautly between lightweight aluminum side ribs. The foam cushions of Soft Pad chairs will not flatten or clump over time. With one-piece, curved aluminum side ribs and die-cast aluminum base, the chair is strong, yet lightweight and easy to move. The fabric is a textile designed by Alexander Girard called Hopsack Cloth. These chairs MSRP for $2800, we sell them for $600 each.

Knoll International - Eero Saarinen Side Chair

The design of Eero Saarinen's Executive Armchair (1950) began more than a decade earlier, when he and Charles Eames submitted several designs to the Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition at the MoMA. These fluid, sculptural shapes influenced the future work of both men; for Saarinen, most notably in his Womb, Tulip and Executive chairs. The Executive was originally made of fiberglass but was later updated in polyurethane. The molded shell flexes slightly with the sitter and the contoured plywood seat supported by metal or wood legs. Unlike Saarinen's furniture, which was consistently sculptural in form, these fluid lines didn't appear in his architecture until the 1950s. This chair is Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified; for its use of low-emitting products. Manufactured by Knoll® according to the original and exacting specifications of the designer. Made in U.S.A.
